We are proud to announce the opening of the new EAST HARLEM STUDIOS by Julio Valdez
East Harlem Studios is an alternative and independent space created in East Harlem by artist Julio Valdez, with the goal of providing artists the workspace they need to make their practice possible. Located at 180 East 118th Street, next to the new Hunter College School of Social Work and galleries, it houses ten (10) artists’ studios aimed at producing, promoting and connecting artists, curators and public in general.
With a total of approximately 3,000 sq. ft. spread in two floors, the professionally built studios range in size from 150 to 500 sq. ft. with 12-foot ceilings, shared heat and electric, high speed internet and communal area. Additionally, a custom-framing studio in association with Frames and Stretchers, Inc.is located in our third floor space.
The goal is to expand and nurture a new community of artists in the neighborhood.
