Silk Aquatint Workshop

2 Day Workshop in Washington, DC

In this workshop you will learn how to make a silk aquatint print. Silk Aquatint is a versatile alternative to traditional printmaking techniques. Silk Aquatint, or Silk Collagraph, is a non-acid method of working a print plate where the image is created by painting with whitened acrylic medium on a black silk surface backed with plastic, to produce a variety of tones and textures. The Plate is then inked, wiped (like a metal plate) ad printed on an etching press. Plates are easy to cut and durable for large editions.

This course is suitable for both beginners and more advanced students. Classes are limited to 8 students. We can work to accomodate the specific schedules of groups of three or more, workshops are also available for school groups.
